‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Will we meet Robin’s mom?

There have long been a number of mysteries pertaining to “How I Met Your Mother” for much of its eight seasons, but at the moment one of the biggest ones pertaining to things outside the famous Mother has to be just who Robin’s mom really is as a person. Over the years, we largely have just heard her speak about her dad (played by Ray Wise), and now that we have met Barney’s real dad (John Lithgow), she is the only parental figure to the cast that we have yet to meet.

Luckily, it does appear as though this long-awaited meeting is going to happen soon … at least based on what executive producer Carter Bays is saying to TV Guide:

“That’s something we’ve been talking more and more about, and I’d think that both her parents would be at her wedding,”

Bays also had the following to share when it comes to what is going to happen in the episode airing early next year where Wise turns up again, and there are some very awkward moments pertaining to the fact that Barney never asked him permission to marry his daughter:

“It’s about the contours of their father-daughter, or -‘son,’ relationship … Robin has to put to bed her resentment toward her dad before she can move on with her life and get married.”

One of the nice things about the stories coming up for Barney and Robin is that even though they are engaged now, it still looks like there is no real shortage of drama as the two continue to try and sort their lives out before tying the not. We’re hoping that Lithgow is going to come back for at least one more guest spot, and it is rumored that Ashley Benson of “Pretty Little Liars” is going to be playing the long-awaited half-sister that many thought at one point was going to end up being the infamous Mother in the title.
