‘Royal Pains’ season 5 spoilers: Will Dr. Sacani still be around?

As happy as we were for Evan and Paige on “Royal Pains” on Sunday when the two characters tied the knot, there was unfortunately also one glaring problem: where in the world was Dr. Jeremiah Sacani? For those out there who loved season 4 of the USA show more than any other (including us), this was a glaring omission considering that his love story with Divya finally seemed to be going somewhere; instead, he was stuck in Iceland for the wedding, and Divya’s romance with Rafa heated back up to the point where the two were briefly married.

Is all hope at a hook-up between these two characters gone forever? Don’t worry, Sacani fans, as Ben Shenkman’s lovely (albeit socially awkward) doctor will be back in a big way during season 5. Speaking to TV Guide on this very subject, here is what executive producer Michael Rauch had to say:

“We are already talking about some very fun things to do. He felt like he fit seamlessly into the Royal Pains family and brought a lot of fun to the show … He is definitely a member of HankMed that we plan on keeping around.”

Of course, we would love to just see him handed a series regular position to ease our mind a little bit, but this may not happen for a number of reasons (including scheduling and/or budget). However, we’ll take however much Sacani that the show decides to throw in our direction … especially if it ends with him getting together with Divya at some point.

Season 5 of “Royal Pains” will consist of 13 episodes, and should premiere at some point in the summer. The show has also been lucky enough to have already been renewed for a season 6, and that will be on the air in 2014.
