‘Homeland’ season 2, episode 12: Last-minute finale teases from Damian Lewis
Are you ready for the “Homeland” season 2 finale to just air already? If you feel this way, we can guarantee you that you are not alone: this is the episode that everyone has been clamoring to see for some time, as ti will either confirm or deny what has become a frustrating and long-standing question pertaining to the show: is there any way at all that Nicholas Brody can survive this season?
Damian Lewis has been doing some press this week in anticipation of what may or may not be his last episode of the show, and speaking as a part of a new interview with “The Billy Bush Show,” the actor explained that it is certainly feasibly that Brody could be killed by Quinn or someone else … but did not also rule out a season 3 role:
“If ever a show was going to kill off a nominated actor, it’s this show. They don’t care, they hold no prisoners, which I think is fantastic and part of the show’s success … There are people who think Brody’s time is up, that could be it. Let’s face it, there’s a high body count on ‘Homeland,’ but we’ll have to see how it pans out.”
Let’s face it: there are at this point advantages to having Brody as a character dead. This keeps the show fresh, and also avoids the criticism that the writing is getting increasing unrealistic over time as someone with his baggage would hardly be allowed to live an ordinary life. However, you could also argue that there is still a reasonably-realistic way for him to escape or possibly flee to another country; Lewis is right in that the issue here is that this is a character who is instrumental to the show’s success, and killing him off would be a gigantic risk.
What do you think: should Brody live or die during the finale? If you want to watch a sneak peek for the episode, you can do so over at the link here. You can also vote here to pick “Homeland” as the Show of the Year.
