ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: A face from Beckett’s past to return

One day after reporting the news that “Castle” is set to stage a “Firefly” reunion courtesy of Gina Torres and Nathan Fillion, we now have some more news courtesy of an actor who last appeared in an episode featuring another star of the Fox classic in Adam Baldwin.

In a new post on Twitter, the show’s camera operator Andrew Bikichky confirmed that actor Michael Dorn is going to be returning to the show as Dr. Carter Burke for at least one episode in the new year. Burke is of course the psychiatrist that has spent some serious time with Beckett over the course of the past few seasons, and he is in some ways responsible for helping Stana Katic’s character getting to a place where she could even date Castle to begin with.

Thus far this season, Beckett hasn’t needed to spend time speaking with anyone other than her boyfriend; but given everything that is going to be coming up insecurity-wise (especially as Castle temporarily takes in his ex to help care for Alexis), it’s understandable that she could use some professional help to sort through everything.

There is no confirmation just yet as to what episode Dorn will be appearing in, but our guess is that it is going to be a few episodes into the new year given how far along production is at this very moment. The first episode back will be around relationship issues, and the following one will delve deep into the world of wealthy people in a very adult industry.
