‘Homeland’ season 2 spoilers: Exec talks Carrie, Nazir, and Brody’s intentions
It has been a few days now since Sunday night’s game-changing episode of “Homeland” season 2, but we are still reeling from what we witnessed. It was a stellar, jam-packed hour full of action and intrigue, and it also showed us just how far Brody will go to protect Carrie … even to the point of following Abu Nazir’s instructions to kill the Vice-President.
But was there something more going through Brody’s head at that given moment? If you listen to what executive producer Alex Gansa is saying now, this could very well be the case. In the video below, Gansa explains how Brody’s decision to kill Walden was built off of far more than just his rage over Carrie’s capture, as he was also realizing through his interactions with the man just how horrible of a world leader he would be if he were to win the election. As for Carrie’s decision to try and hunt Nazir down following her escape, the showrunner explained that this was not so much a product of him thinking that she would be able to effectively kill the man, but that she would at least track him down until reinforcements arrived.
What may perhaps be the most interesting part of Gansa’s video is just is going to be coming up next for Brody. What more is there for the man to do? Nazir is seemingly cornered, and it is likely that he will not be of further use to the government. In addition to that, he is also expected at this point to step down from his post and withdraw his name from Vice-Presidential consideration. He is going to try to reintegrate himself with his family, however impossible that may be given the lies that are now on both sides. Oh, and there is also the issue of Quinn being ready to kill him as soon as the order is handed down for him to do so.
Do you think there is anyway that both Nazir and Brody survive this season? If you want to watch a video preview for Sunday night’s episode, you can do so here.
