‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: The juiciest Barney / Robin photo yet
If you have been chomping at the bit to see Barney and Robin getting together on “How I Met Your Mother” season 8, the moment seems to coming up faster than ever. After all, we have a new photo to the left here from the upcoming two-part episode “The Final Page” (which airs a week from Monday) which shows the most evidence we have seen yet of a super-romantic moment coming up between the two characters.
But based on Robin’s defense attitude here, though, is she really the woman that Barney has created this tableau for? If you think back to Monday night, you noticed that our one-time womanizer shockingly moved his love life in a completely new direction when he proclaimed that he and Robin’s fellow co-worker (and archenemy) Patrice were on a “date” together. Barney passed up on an easy opportunity to be with a weather girl over someone who was kind to him … but you still have to wonder what his true motives are.
Is Barney getting close to Patrice deliberately to force Robin into revealing her feelings for him? This is a question we figure that many are going to be asking during this episode, especially after he tells Ted a major secret that would represent a serious commitment to the woman he really only got close to early this week. He obviously did this knowing that Ted is not the best secret-keeper in the land (only a step above Lily), and that Robin would find out about it eventually.
Our guess? Producers obviously want us to think that this could be all a ruse for Robin’s sake, but what if it’s not? Robin may really need to fight for a relationship that she had seemingly given up on earlier this season, and it may be too much to ask that Barney ends up breaking off another serious relationship thanks to the feelings he has for Cobie Smulders’ character.
