‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 9 preview: Marshall and Marvin ‘firsts’
As it turns out, Monday night’s new “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode is going to be about more than just Barney’s attempts to get Barney “out of her system” (by somehow deciding that she needs to get back with him one last time); this “Lobster Crawl” is also going to be featuring a baby crawl, as well.
What are we talking about specifically here? As the video below (via SpoilerTV) shows us, Marshall and Lily are desperate to not only see their baby’s development into a crawler, but also to get it on film. Unfortunately for them, what we have here is a classic case of the baby only wanting to crawl when they are not actually around. The child scoots from place to place in front of Ted, but then stops the moment they come in. This causes Lily to freak out, and Marshall devises a plan to get her to relax: get her out of the house, and tell her that he will keep watch over the kid.
Unfortunately for Marshall, this also does not turn out quite as expected … which you can see in the clip. While capturing a baby’s first accomplishment a la crawling on camera is a pretty standard story for any sitcom to do, what makes this show exciting is that they are at least keeping the “How I Met Your Mother” flair there at the same time courtesy of some edgy comments, and Marshall acting ridiculous and imagining already that young Marvin is going to be the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings.
Do you think that Marvin has been utilized on the show in an interesting way so far? If you want to see another video of Robin’s plot moving forward on the show, you can do so over at the link here.
