‘Fringe’ season 5 photo: Walter makes his move

By the time you are reading this article, odds are that you may already know just what the photo to the left from Friday night’s new “Fringe” season 5 episode means. Since we do not have the gift of time travel (or clairvoyance), however, all we can do for the moment is merely speculate. Is he blowing something up? Controlling a device? No matter what, we can confirm that this very moment could be a game-changer in the plans to take down the Observers.

In some ways, it feels like “Fringe” has already moved beyond its seventh episode of the season; but if there is one thing that we can thank the Major League Baseball playoffs for at the moment, it is stalling here just enough for us to savor the last doses of “Fringe” goodness that we are going to have until the series is finally riding off into the sunset on January 31. By that time, hopefully we we will have all of the answers that we need.

In looking back at season 5 overall, there have been some polarizing moments, for sure (and also a rather shocking death); however, what we do love about it is that just about every episode has felt like a love letter and a reward for fans who have stuck this show out despite the low ratings and the move to Friday nights. If you are diving into the show now for the first time, you probably feel like someone just stuck your head underwater; as for everyone else, every episode feels like a carefully-written thank-you note.
