’30 Rock’ season 7, episode 6 review: Is the nightmare over?
Over seven seasons “30 Rock” has shown us a number of characters that we have come to love and cherish … but we are pretty sure that Hazel is not one of them. The role just comes across as desperate and vile; and plus, she saps the joy out of our poor, sweet innocent Kenneth Parcel.
However, based on what we saw Thursday night with the character, her reign of terror may be at an end as she tried one scheme too many in order to get herself on TGS: she messed with an angry Liz Lemon who was using her recovery from foot surgery as an analogy for whether or not she would be able to have a job that was so demanding while at the same time be a mom. What did she find out? In this case, it certainly wasn’t possible as she destroyed her feet running down to stop Hazel, fired her, and was left with an embarrassment of a show thanks to her sabotage. But who knows? She could still come back.
The good news? Liz and Criss are getting married! Check out the photo to the left for evidence of that. Sadly, we’re not going to find out more about this for a while.
This was not the funniest episode of “30 Rock” ever, but the real highlight came in seeing a story that really revolved around the power struggle between Tracy, who was desperate to include a man in his movie loosely based on Jack, and the real Jack himself. As a personality study, this really worked in showing us how these two guys are the same: they’re stubborn, super-rich, and far too quick at times to jump to conclusions. With Jack, this was clear when he didn’t actually see Tracy’s movie through to know that he came off almost heroically by the very end of it.
The only thing that we are truly sad about now is Kenneth proclaiming that he will no longer be friends with anyone … even if he still plans to act the same way towards them and cater to their every needs.
