‘Emily Owens M.D.’ not canceled, despite internet rumors
Is “Emily Owens M.D.” really going to get canceled? That is not entirely clear at the moment; however, what we can at least say with some certainty is that, despite reports floating around on Twitter, the show has not been canceled yet.
Sources from within The CW confirm that production is continuing on the low-rated medical drama, which fared poorly upon its premiere and has really not been able to build much on its audience ever since. The good news is that the network has actually already given the show additional scripts beyond just the thirteen that were ordered for the show; unfortunately, this is not any sort of guarantee that these scripts will be made or that the episodes being filmed will end up airing.
Given that the series is averaging just around a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and has not been around for so long that the network will anger too many fans be canceling it, our guess is that what may eventually happen here is that the network will run the episodes it has ordered, and then use the timeslot in the spring for either the new series “Cult” or another show whose timeslot was adjusted to air here. Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. have long been a trouble spot for the network, as last year “Ringer” barely made it through its first season before getting canceled. Luckily, the one thing possibly saving the show is that “Gossip Girl,” “90210,” and “Nikita” are not doing any better across the schedule.
