‘Hart of Dixie’ season 2, episode 6 review: Election fever and heartache
One week after America named their President, “Hart of Dixie” season 2 returned with an important election of their own: the Mayoral race between Lavon and Ruby. It was a pretty intense back and forth between the two contenders, but eventually the competition regarding the election turned into something else entirely: a romance.
As a result of spending so much time debating with his old girlfriend, the incumbent here started to have feelings for his contender; and to make things all the more complicated, Lemon was holding on to some feelings for Lavon following their time together last season. This turned out to really be a race that was just as much about revealing their feelings as it was the race to see who won. In some ways, the election was actually more ridiculous when it was revealed that the vote was a tie, and the winner of it was actually going to be decided by a chicken as per the town by-laws.
Lavon literally opted to worry more about confessing his feelings for Ruby than he did the election, and it actually turned out that Lavon ended up rooting for Golden Brooks’ character to win just so that she would not leave. Luckily for him, he ended up getting the best of both worlds: not only did he win the election, but he also got the girl in the end. Ruby stayed! As for Lemon, let’s just say that things did not end up going so well as he got her a candle in return for her hard work.
Away from the election, this episode really did not pop that much save for watching George try to work his new love interest Presley. and Zoe trying to help Lemon’s father deal with some of his issues.
