‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 6 preview: [Spoiler] returns!

Pretty much from the moment that Elena Gilbert was turned following the Wickery Bridge accident, there was one thing that fans were clamoring for on “The Vampire Diaries” season 4: seeing what happens when she runs into her old doppelganger Katherine. This is a vampire who has been off the map for a full year, and seems to have no intention of being around at any point where she would have to deal with Klaus.

With this in mind, it’s a little surprising to see Katherine turn up in the first promo for next week’s all-new episode entitled “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” given that Klaus is still hovering around. Is it possible that Elena is hallucinating when it comes to her being there? It’s surely possible, since she’s currently suffering from the crazy disease known as “I just killed a vampire hunter.” The death of Connor is going to have far more of an impact on her psyche than she or some of the other residents of Mystic Falls ever expected … and it could even push her over the edge.

As for what else we see in this promo, Paul Wesley’s Stefan will continue to try and be the shoulder for Elena to lean on. Is this really going to work, though? It’s doubtful, since there is only so much emotional support can do for you after you just killed a man that may have been able to lead you to a cure. This part of the story is probably still not over, as Stefan does have a newfound sense of motivation to keep looking now that he knows it is possible for he and the woman he loves to have a normal life with a beginning, middle, and end.
