ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: Nathan Fillion’s ‘Star Trek’ impression is…

Just in case the fact that the next “Castle” season 5 episode is about a science fiction convention does not excite you enough, just picture this image in your mind: Nathan Fillion doing a spot-on impersonation of James T. Kirk himself in William Shatner.

According to a recent interview the episode’s director Jonathan Frakes (who has quite a few connections to “Star Trek” of his own) gave to TVLine, this very thing is precisely what we are going to see happen at some point during the hour entitled “The Final Frontier.” There will be a great deal of comedy, scenes for many of the characters to shine, and we will even see one Kate Beckett reveal that she may be much more of a geek than anyone previously realized. As a matter of fact, she may dress up in a costume from the fictional “Nebula-9” show in more ways than one. (We’ll let you use your imagination here.)

The case itself that Castle and Beckett are going to be investigating here involves a fan of the aforementioned show who was murdered in an unusual way, and thus, pretty much the entire convention becomes an active scene for the two to try and figure out what happened. However, this is not going to be easy: not only are there plenty of egotistical actor characters who were famous years in the past, but we will also be seeing a huge mass of people in a small place who will only be around for a short amount of time. In other words, the window here is short for the killer to be revealed, since a potential key witness could be traveling out of town days later.

What are you the most excited about seeing this week?
