Hello Sunday – Team Kelly Clarkson – Stone Cold by Demi Lovato
Jake Hoot – Team Kelly Clarkson – That Ain’t My Truck by Rhett Atkins
Joana Martinez – Team Gwen Stefani – Impossible by Christina Aguilera
Kat Hammock – Team Blake Shelton – You’re Still the One by Shania Twain
Katie Kadan – Team John Legend – Rolling in the Deep by Adele
Marybeth Byrd – Team John Legend – Lose You to Love Me by Selena Gomez
Ricky Duran – Team Blake Shelton – Born Under a Bad Sign by Albert King (Cream)
Rose Short – Team Gwen Stefani – God’s Country by Blake Shelton
Shane Q – Team Kelly Clarkson – Caribbean Queen by Billy Ocean
Will Breman – Team John Legend – My Body by Young the Giant
Of these song choices, Katie doing Adele feels both obvious but also awesome. She’s got the sort of roaring voice that will enable her to totally nail this particular song. Meanwhile, it’s nice to see Hello Sunday perform a song by Demi Lovato, which should allow them to be infused with a little bit more in the way of youthful energy.
On the flip side, we’re a little surprised about Kat Hammock doing a Shania Twain song. We understand that Blake is her mentor, but we think her voice is better suited for something more in the pop realm. (Yet, this will likely get her some votes/support from Blake’s country army — there is clearly going to be some value in her performing it with that in mind.)
