Lucifer season 5 spoilers: Be prepared for a classic noir episode!
Speaking via Entertainment Tonight, star Tom Ellis makes it clear that the upcoming fourth episode of the season is going to be told in the style of a 1940’s noir, one where there is an alternate-universe quality where you will see some of the main cast members take on different roles. We’ve seen ideas like this before on other shows in various forms, and there’s always something fun about — after all, you often learn some things about some of your favorite actors that you never quite expect to!

“We tell a story that answers the question a lot of fans have been asking actually … The lovely thing about this episode is you see a lot of our regular characters in a different light … The thing about Lucifer is that he’s timeless, so he’s been coming back to Earth all this time. There’s an element to Lucifer where he seems to be from the Oscar Wilde period. And to see the other characters fall back into that style is quite interesting.”
Above all else, what’s so fun about this episode is that it offers the show new layers to play around in, and we have a feeling that we could learn more about some of the established characters even through these new personas. On the surface, this may appear like a standalone episode that wouldn’t hold much of a bearing to anything else .. but we imagine that there could be some buried secrets somewhere underneath.
Also, this is pretty clever for Netflix to get this information about this episode out there — it gives viewers something to be excited about while also giving away zero spoilers as to what’s coming. Theoretically, it remains possible that Lucifer Morningstar is still actually a part of Hell by the time this rolls around.
