Criminal Minds season 15: Will we see a promo soon?

As of right now, there hasn’t been some huge influx of information out there when it comes to Criminal Minds season 15. We know that it’s the final season, and early indications suggest a midseason launch. It’s been filmed for some time now, and some of the cast including Daniel Henney and Paget Brewster have gone on to find some other gigs.

So with all of this in mind… shouldn’t we be starting to get at least a few more details about what’s coming up next?

This week, Fox unveiled its first promo for Last Man Standing season 8. While there may not be that much a Tim Allen comedy has in common with an FBI crime procedural, consider this — both are shows that could premiere in January, and each have a lot of footage in the can. Granted, you can argue that Fox had a great platform to showcase a new Last Man Standing promo in the World Series, whereas CBS hasn’t had that platform yet. They may also still be working to figure out what they want to do in terms of their midseason lineup. There are a lot of different shows that they could consider, depending of course on if they want to stockpile a bunch of unscripted fare and air it in January or give some tentpoles a winter hiatus.

We do think that, if Criminal Minds is premiering in January, we’ll get a first promo or some more scoop about it around the middle of next month. Sure, the ratings don’t matter all that much for the final season, but we do think CBS recognizes on some level that this is a tentpole series for them. It’s a part of their legacy and it’s one of the most-successful crime procedurals ever. It feels, therefore, like we’re entering the time to promote it — allow it to have the best ending ever!

Story-wise, we know there’s a lot of potential here with Criminal Minds — just remember the fact that the final season is going to be more serialized in nature, and feature the BAU facing off against one of their biggest adversaries yet in Everett Lynch.
