Madam Secretary season 6 episode 2 sneak peek: A harsh reality

Madam Secretary

Madam Secretary season 6 episode 2 is going to be arriving on CBS this weekend and based on what we’re seeing, Elizabeth is still getting used to her new office. There are a lot of wonderful things that go along with being President, but simultaneously, there are some difficulties. One of the biggest ones is just recognizing that not everyone out there is going to be a fan of what you’re doing.

In the sneak peek below, Russell makes the comment that at least 40% of the country is going to hate you at all times, virtually no matter what you do. That’s not the easiest thing for her to here, most likely, but there is a lot of truth to it. We are living in one of the most divisive times ever, one in which everyone wants to stick to their own point of view and not listen or recognize others. It’s hard to convince anyone to open their eyes when all they see or hear is just nastiness from other sources.

Ultimately, though, Elizabeth McCord has never struck us as the sort of person who will just be perpetually obsessed with what others think. If she feels in her gut that she’s doing the right thing as President, then she’ll stick with that and ride that wave for as long as possible. She can win people over with her policies and the overall quality of life Americans receive — if they feel like they’re happier and more cared for by the government, that goes a long way.

Finally, we do think that this sneak peek serves as a reminder that diplomacy and international relations are still core components to what this show is — we’re still going to see Elizabeth dealing with matters like this, including some of the latest chaos that she is taking on with Russia.
