Madam Secretary season 6 premiere sneak peek: Meet President McCord
The first thing worth noting, at least for us, in this sneak peek is that not all that much has changed when it comes to Elizabeth’s attitude or the way that she sees the world. She’s still very much the same woman she was as Secretary of State, relatable and trying to think of others before herself. In this preview, she’s preparing for a night that offers First Gentleman Henry McCord a chance to stand out a little bit. It’s going to be hard for him to find that when he’s married to the leader of the country!
What we think matters most to Elizabeth in the new season is trying to be the best leader possible, someone who not only helps in the now, but also a little bit more down the road. Beyond just that, though, we’re also hoping that the new season will give us an opportunity to see further how she handles crises now when the buck stops with her. There is no more collaboration with President Dalton and while we’re sure that she will take any advise she receives under consideration, in the end, she has to make the hard choices.
Yet, in the midst of the political decision-making and the battling various opponents, we still view Madam Secretary as a family drama. It’s about a group of people who find themselves now in this most extraordinary circumstance, and they don’t want to forget along the way some of the central tenets that make them who they are. This is important in order to ensure the show remains the same, and we feel like we all have a little bit in common with the McCords no matter their place in life.
