Will Fuller House season 5 revert back to split-season model?
In the past, we’ve seen some Fuller House episodes air in the month of December, and in a lot of ways, it’s the perfect time for them. It’s the holiday season, families are together, and it’s easier for parents to watch a lot of installments with their kids when they are out of school.
So what makes this season different, to the point that releasing all of these episodes would not be possible? It has to do with the timing of the production, plus the amount of time necessary to get them edited together. It also has to do with the fact that Fuller House season 5 has a larger episode order than season 4, which was only 13. Every time that Fuller House has had a 13-episode season, the installments came out all at once. However, when season 3 came out with 18, they were divided into two batches … and we anticipate something similar happening here. If we had to guess as to what the show is going to be doing at the moment, it is airing a batch of eight episodes this year and then another eight in the late winter/early spring in order to finish the run off. That, at least in terms of Netflix getting the most bang for its buck, makes the most sense.
We definitely do understand why some out there may be wondering why Fuller House is ending, especially when data shows that it’s one of Netflix’s more-popular shows. We do think that there are a number of different reasons why, and the stem from all sorts of different places. Take, for example, how only a select few Netflix shows last longer than five seasons. Meanwhile, Fuller House comes from a studio in Warner Bros. TV that is looking to push its own streaming service in HBO Max. We’ve seen Netflix already move away from other shows (see the Marvel series) that are from a studio that is about to become a competitor.
