NCIS season 17, FBI season 2 combo promo hints at personal stories
While there isn’t too much new footage in either one of these promos, there are some interesting parallels here in that both premieres revolve around cases that are very much personal for some of the main characters. For NCIS proper, that includes the return of Ziva David. Someone is after her following her supposed death years ago; within this premiere, we’ll have a chance to get some more scoop on what happened. We’ll learn (hopefully) why this mystery woman in Sahar is after her and what Gibbs is willing to do in order to help her.
While this case is personal for Ziva, it’s also important to Gibbs. Cote de Pablo’s character is a part of his extended NCIS family — they worked together for many years and he mourned her death. (This is, of course, assuming that Gibbs thought that Ziva was actually dead.)

One thing that is cool about the combo promo is that if you watch it frame by frame, you can see a brief glimpse of the note that Ziva wrote Bishop at the end of “She” — the clue that got us all so excited about her return in the first place!
As for FBI… This promo teases the emotional story that is coming up for OA, as an explosion at a restaurant he frequented as a kid has him on edge. What happens from here could lead to one of his more personal cases — we can’t say if it will be important beyond the premiere but, with the show trying to be more personal to its agents in general, it is possible. The FBI premiere will also bring on board Alana de la Garza as a series regular following the departure of Sela Ward.
