What’s coming up on Ink Master season 12 episode 12? This is a challenge with a different sort of theme to it: Marketing. It’s not just about doing great tattoos; it’s also about knowing how to sell them to the audience. It’s about finding a way in order to ensure that you capture intention with bold, incredible work.

So how are the remaining contestants going to showcase that within the upcoming challenge? That’s what the sneak peek below is all about! In this, you can see some of the artists undergo an interview process with various human canvases who enter the shop. They can assess what each person wants and, following that, sell themselves on why they’re the right person for them. This is important given that everyone’s going to want the best ideas — you don’t want to get stuck with a sorry canvas, right? It benefits you to think outside the box and be creative as best as you possibly can to make your pitch.

Once you are paired up with a canvas, then the onus obviously falls on you to deliver an awesome tattoo. What’s the best way to do that? Just make sure that you don’t bite off more than you can chew and try to push your canvas to accept some changes if needed. There are some cool ideas within this group, though there are some that are rather predictable — take, for example, Pon doing another horse tattoo so soon after doing one previously. If we were Pon, we would’ve probably decided to push hard on another tattoo to show off a little more versatility … though he may have done that. There are a lot of things that you don’t get too see within a short span of time.

Conceptually, there are some interesting ideas mixed in here — think in terms of Holli tattooing a house and Jason getting to do some cool space-related stuff. Jake’s idea is intriguing, and like some of the artists discuss, we wouldn’t want to work with lace.
