‘The Bachelorette’: Emily Maynard not joining show again after Jef Holm split

There are rumors, and then there are really crazy rumors. Want the latest example of the latter? Just check out the latest tabloid story suggesting that somehow, Emily Maynard is going to become “The Bachelorette” all over again after not finding love this time, and only a matter of weeks since her relationship with Jef Holm first started to fall apart. This story was first shared by Radar Online, and it’s pretty easy to dissect when it comes to its truthfulness (or lack thereof).

First things first, know this about Emily’s past season: it was not an easy decision for her to sign on. As a matter of fact, it was an incredibly long negotiation process, and she was not sure at first if she even wanted to do it given the exposure it would put on her daughter Ricki from the media. Do we think that there may have been financial discussions going on there, as well? Sure, but they were surely not the only reason behind her hesitation.

In addition to that, you also have to look at things here from ABC’s point of view, where it makes no sense at all for them to welcome Emily back on the show. Sure, the ratings for her season were pretty great, and it created plenty of headlines. However, it’s not going to look so great for business to feature a woman who has gotten engaged twice on the show already, and had both engagements end within a matter of months. This is not meant as a slam on Emily, but eventually with viewers it could be a “boy who cried wolf” sort of situation where no one would watching, automatically assuming that the relationship at the end would last. Even if the success rate for this show is low, you still want the possibility of happiness at the end. Yes, Brad Womack was “The Bachelor” twice, but he was not a contestant in addition to that.

In conclusion, we’ll just be blunt here: don’t believe everything you read. This isn’t going to happen, even if the show still finds a way to feature Emily again on TV at some point in the future.
