NCIS conflict with Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette resolved, says CBS boss

NCIS

CBS is present today in Los Angeles for their annual Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour event and while there, there were a number of different questions across many of their separate shows. One of which was NCIS, and the question was eventually asked of Kelly Kahl (network programming head) about the conflict that was present between Mark Harmon and co-star Pauley Perrette.

This is a subject that we’ve written about in a number of forms already, and we even recorded a video talking about some of the issues Perrette raised earlier this year which you can check out below (Be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube so you don’t miss out on our weekly NCIS videos and view our show playlist.) Our view of it then was that everyone should get an opportunity to move forward. Perrette has a new show coming out in Broke at some point next year, and NCIS is premiering new episodes in the fall. It doesn’t seem as though anything more is happening on the Perrette – Harmon front, save for the occasional media outlet who tries to regurgitate the story with no new information for the sake of generating attention.

Let’s get back now to Kahl and the quote, per TVLine, he supplied on the subject:

“I can’t speak to what she’s addressing in her tweets. She did come to us a couple years ago with a workplace concern. We immediately investigated it and we resolved it to everyone’s satisfaction … We are very happy to have her on the air again this year with us [with Broke], and I don’t think she would be back with us if she had huge concerns.”

While NCIS is bringing back a fan favorite in Cote de Pablo for its upcoming season 17 premiere, Perrette made it clear this year that she has no interest in returning as Abby. It was actually her conversation on that subject that sent everyone down the road of Mark Harmon controversy again. The two reportedly had a contentious relationship near the end of their time on the show, and they eventually stopped appearing in scenes with one another. The final scene for Abby and Gibbs was shot in a way where it was clear that they were filmed separately.
