Dynasty season 3 spoilers: Another new Cristal is coming on board

Entering Dynasty season 3, it looks like you will see the merry-go-round when it comes to Cristal continue. For the first season, we saw Nathalie Kelley take on a variation of this role; meanwhile, in season 2 Ana Brenda Contreras came on board. Her Cristal was billed as the “real” iteration of the character and technically, they were too separate people within the world of the show.

Now, we’re about to see another performer playing Cristal. According to a new report coming in via TVLine, Danielle Alonso is now being brought on board as this character. This time around, this is a recast and we’ll be seeing the same character of Cristal — just with a different actor playing the role.

In a statement breaking down this subject even more, here is what show executive producer Josh Reims had to say on the subject:

“Unfortunately, Ana Brenda Contreras will not be returning for the third season of Dynasty due to personal reasons … We’d like to thank her for her contributions to the show and wish her all the best. We’re excited to welcome Daniella Alonso who will step into the role of Cristal.”

Will Dynasty be able to handle yet another change behind the scenes? We like to think so, if for no other reason than they’ve been here before. Just think in terms of what we saw with Alexis Carrington through most of season 2. Nicollette Sheridan ended up departing the role midway through last season and, after that, Elizabeth Gillies ended up taking on the role of Alexis for a period of time. There are plans that there will be another performer in this role for the third season and hopefully, we’re going to learn more information about this part moving into the future.

Dynasty season 3 will be airing during the 2019-20 season — hopefully, the show remains at its core a fantastic drama with a lot of shocking twists and turns. We want it to be juicy, and we also want to contain some of the elements that come with this being a classic primetime soap.
