America’s Got Talent review: Alex Dowis, Verba Shadow, Judge Cuts!

AGTTonight, the second America’s Got Talent Judge Cuts show is here! Throughout the night, you’re going to see great acts, big dreams, disappointments, and guest judge Dwyane Wade. He’ll have a golden buzzer, but we’ll get to that later on the episode.

For now, check out our live take on all of the acts featured! Once you finish reading, watch the video below, subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube, and also view our America’s Got Talent playlist to ensure you don’t miss any other updates.

Bir Khalsa – These three are completely crazy. They bash melons, they risk their lives, and they do things with hammers that nobody should be doing. This brought the danger, the entertainment value, and it’s definitely worthy of moving forward.

GFORCE – We still think that these five are very good at what they do — they’re a girl group that knows how to sing, dance, and rap with attitude. It’s never going to be our personal cup of tea, but there are a lot of young girls out there who will like this immensely. Howie Mandel is kinda right, though, that it was hard to understand a lot of what was being said for them.

Dom Chambers – The magician busted out a lot of cool stuff in his innovative act, including making a card pop right off of an iPhone and then also pouring a tequila sunrise out of said phone. We don’t know what else Simon wanted out of this.

Lamont Landers – This is someone who didn’t have a stellar first audition with Simon Cowell and he needed to understand how to take a little more criticism. Tonight, he figured that out a little bit. It was a little bit more vulnerable and it felt like more of an open door for him.

Alex Dowis – He is a light artist and we don’t even remember if his first audition was shown — but Simon Cowell didn’t love him and he was desperate to show something a little bit different tonight. This was cool, strange, and visually stunning to look at.

V. Unbeatable – Dwyane’s Golden Buzzer act! Be sure to visit the link here to get more of our take on their act.

Verba Shadow – The choreography and the style of what they did was incredible. Yet, it didn’t have anywhere near the same resonance as the original. If they weren’t going to have the same firepower, they needed to make up for it elsewhere. We’re not sure that they did.

Robert Finley – He decided to perform another original song in “Medicine Woman,” another reminder of his Louisiana roots. This performance had the right combination of atmosphere and great vocals to it. While his audition was great, we love the soul he brought out for his performance this time around.

Duo Fusion – This was an excellent showcase of strength and choreography — in addition to the two parties having a great relationship at the core of the act.

Ryan Niemiller – A fantastic, funny comic with a great set that was about what he’s gone through, dating, and also some of what he does traveling the country. A great performance from start to finish.
