Next week, Good Trouble season 2 episode 7 is bringing you “In the Middle,” an episode that is about new challenges and a combination of good and bad news.

Take, for example, with Mariana. We know that for most of this season, she’s been working towards big things for her app. She’s tested it, witnessed countless problems, and continually dealt with terrible workplace sexism and personal roadblocks. Yet, she’s getting closer to some big news — though she didn’t think that she’d be getting to the point that she is in this amount of time. Through episode 7, you’ll have a little more of a sense of what we’re talking about as Mariana’s launch is pushed up faster than she could have ever imagined. That means more stress for her and more stress on the people within her life.

Mariana’s app gets an accelerated launch timeline that puts stress on her and her team, especially when Gael lands a potential new opportunity that conflicts with a big presentation. Callie finds herself in the middle of a power struggle at the Legal Aid offices.

Is a major setback coming Mariana’s way? We don’t wish that on her, but it does feel like she’s moving much faster towards success than Callie is. A lot of that is very much due to the job that she’s chosen to have. When you’re working within the world of tech, all it takes is one big app to totally change your life. It would be fascinating to see how someone like Mariana deals with tons of money all of a sudden and if that changes her, mostly because so few shows focus on that. Even Silicon Valley has remained intent on giving us Pied Piper as underdogs!

In the end, it’s possible that Mariana’s app also crashes the earth the moment it launches or that the consumer base is never quite there. While this could make her a multi-millionaire, it could easily also make next to nothing.
