Bring the Funny sneak peek: Puppet Randy Feltface debuts!
What we know about Feltface at the moment is simply this: He’s an over-the-top puppet from Australia who provides interesting commentary on stuff in the real world. Doing a puppet act is tough — it’s hard to bridge the gap between children and adults, and it’s equally hard to find material that has never been done before. The funny thing about Feltface is that when you think about the comedy, the puppet part of this is completely unnecessary. There’s nothing about the material that is relatable to just a puppet, and it plays like watching a standup comic going up and doing observational humor.

Through his set, Randy Feltface reveals that there is one sport that he loves more than any other: Supermarket rage. This is both relatable and also very much true — the moment that customers were given the chance to scan their own groceries, they turn this into more of an aggressive act. It’s a relatable bit, since almost everything that he talks about is true as someone who has frequented many self-checkouts in our day. The part about scanning them as fast as possible is a true reality of the game, as is the fact that a couple of the checkouts are always closed for no explainable reason.
This act feels like a lock to move forward to the next phase of the competition, even if we’re still so early in Bring the Funny that we’ve got no clear idea as to what that looks like or how the show even ends. Through one episode, what we do at least know is that it’s an expanding version of Last Comic Standing in a way. Sure, you get some stand-up comedians, but also improv troupes, non-traditional comics, and then also crazy stuff like this.
No matter what happens, at least Randy Feltface can brag that he has won many felt hearts all across the country.
