Mayans MC season 2 teaser: The gang rides again
While this promo may not be stuffed to the brim with content, there are small glimpses in here of where characters are in their lives. Take, for example, one EZ Reyes. At the end of season 1, he seemed to accept his role now with the MC rather than heeding advice and taking his life elsewhere. He wanted to make a decision that was his and his alone and now he feels like this club is his home base. This is a place where he can feel a certain degree of acceptance — or, at least a little more self-reliance. He’s proven himself to the group now as someone who can be relied on. We like to think that this goes a long way.
Meanwhile, who else caught Emily’s new outfit choice in the teaser? We’re not one to read too much into fashion, but this was a character who wore white for most of the first season and now, she’s seen in black. Is EZ’s first love heading over to the dark side, or at least embracing more of the grim reality of this life? That may very well be the case.
What we know entering Mayans MC season 2 is the complicated nature of this world on the California/Mexico border, one where the local cartels are at war with the government while the rebels are doing their part to stake their own, separate claim. It’s a power struggle where everyone wants to find their side and make sure that they have some comfort there. It also feels like a war that is never-ending; it’s a separate issue from what went on in Sons of Anarchy when you were talking more about clubs versus other clubs or local law enforcement. The border revolves around governments of two separate countries; we don’t think that this show is out to be overtly political, but we would assume that modern-day politics would have some sort of role in shaping how many of these characters think and feel.
