White Collar creator still intrigued by idea of revival

Is there hope for a White Collar revival at some point in the future? We know that for the better part of the past few years, we’ve gotten more messages here at CarterMatt from readers about this idea than almost any other show. It’s one with a wonderful cast, a timeless premise, and an ending that left many yearning for more.

It’s not that the White Collar series finale was anything other than cool and satisfying — seeing what Neal Caffrey was able to do to start a new life elsewhere was pretty spectacular. It’s just that the thirst is still there to get Neal around Peter and some of the main characters again for another series of adventures. We know that Matt Bomer himself has expressed interest in the idea of doing more of the show, and he’s recently come back to USA to work on the third season of The Sinner.

Now, in a new post on Twitter (which you can check out below), show creator Jeff Eastin noted that he “ran into” cast member Tim DeKay on the Fourth of July and they talked about doing more together. In his words, “there’s definitely a chance.”

Of course, a “chance” does not equal reality in any way you use that word, mostly because it’s not so easy as Eastin being able to blink and a White Collar season 7 is summoned up. Whether it be USA or another provider, there have to be interested parties. White Collar also filmed in New York during its run and that carries with it a hefty price tag of its own.

In our mind, what we’d like to see is a series of movies similar to what USA is doing over with Psych. This would enable the cast to still pursue other things, while also coming back in order to play these characters. Because Psych: The Movie worked so well, the network would know already that there is an audience out there for it already. We’d be down for something more like a full-fledged season, but those are often more difficult to orchestrate so many years after the fact with the cast and crew all working on different things.

For now, continue to have hope if you’re a White Collar fan — it’s something that we’re going to keep our eyes peeled for.
