The Voice season 17 spoilers: Are knockout rounds returning?
Let’s start off with what we know — the show’s official ticketing site has set dates at the moment for Knockout Rounds to be taped in August, which means that, at least for now, they may be planning to return to the format that they were using before this past season in the spring. The Cross Battles were a cool idea to give us more live shows, which is something that we actually were in favor of. Yet, it was the format of them that was off. We’d rather start the top 12 earlier and have fewer eliminations during the season than just throwing a number of contestants at the wall and hoping that some stick. There were too many people in the Cross Battles who weren’t at a high enough level and beyond that, Team Blake Shelton dominated a lot of them, leaving it rather boring in the end.
As a matter of fact, the way in which the Cross Battles severed Team Adam Levine may have been one of the factors in his decision to depart the show earlier this year.

Here is one thing to remember…
Just because Knockouts are being planned right now doesn’t mean that this is going to happen for sure. Everything with shows and schedules is very much subject to change, so don’t be altogether shocked if we see things take a few surprise twists and turns.
The Voice season 17 premieres on NBC this September; the most important thing to us is that we end up seeing some great talent at least close to the level of Maelyn Jarmon, the deserving winner of season 16.
