Legacies season 2 spoilers: Could some Originals alum stop by?

As we look ahead towards Legacies season 2 premiering this fall, there’s room for a lot of crossover with some other elements of The CW’s vampire world. This is, at least, according to the person responsible in shepherding that world in Julie Plec.

From the get-go, Legacies has had both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals in its DNA — after all, you have both Matthew Davis and Danielle Rose Russell in the cast, and we’ve seen at least some appearances from former cast members along the way. Yet, you can still argue that the show did try very hard to establish its own identity separate from both of them in the first season. That’s necessary early on for a show to get its own audience — you don’t just want to be thought of as a carbon copy of some of the programs that came before and viewers gotta give the new cast a chance.

Moving into Legacies season 2, however, there may be a few more crossovers if the story goes in the right direction. With Hope currently suspended in some sort of strange prison between dimensions, it could be all hands on deck in order to get her back. Here’s some of what Plec had to say on the subject via TV Guide:

“I think there’s going to be an opportunity this year to see some of the Originals … I don’t know who and I don’t know when, but the way that Hope’s storyline is shaping up, there’s definitely a link to the family that got left behind … that we will have to address at a certain point. And it would be nice to see a familiar face.”

Who could Legacies season 2 bring back?

There are a few different people that the writers could consider. You could opt for someone dead (this show makes anything possible sometimes), or also someone like Freya who still has a little more story to tell. The problem with bringing in someone like Klaus at this point is that a return could take away from the ending on The Originals, which was absolutely heart-wrenching but also a good way to say goodbye to that story.
