NCIS: Los Angeles season 11: Should anyone else join the team?

NCIS: Los Angeles season 11

As we prepare for NCIS: Los Angeles season 11, we’ve been spotlighting a number of key characters, whether it be Deeks, Kensi, Sam, and Callen. We’ve also discussed how Hetty’s story could be important and also the return of Nell and Eric.

For the sake of this article, we want to spin things around and ask something a little bit different: Are we going to see anyone else come on board the team? Will there be some other surprises thrown into the mix; or, is there going to be an opportunity to be able to see someone else in a larger capacity?

At the moment, it feels almost inevitable that there will be someone else thrust into the world on at least a recurring basis, largely because the show never quite replaced Owen Granger. Meanwhile, Shay Mosley also departed in season 10 and there hasn’t been much of an explanation of her prolonged access. It feels like there is room for at least one more person to round out the series — the question is who.

The most likely scenario is that NCIS: Los Angeles finds a way to add to the leadership structure. Hetty for now is the highest-in-command of the series regulars and, since there’s no guarantee Linda Hunt will be in every episode, it makes some sense to look in some other directions. Maybe that means more of a character like Rogers, who grew on us as time went along. Or, maybe that means an opportunity to bring in someone new to clash with Hetty and try to flex some leadership muscles.

What’s another alternative? Going with a new agent or someone new to throw out into the field. Fatima is an interesting possibility just because we already know her. The challenge with upgrading her role is that you already have three formal field agents plus also Deeks, who is entrenched within the LAPD and collaborates with NCIS often. Sometimes, you even get some characters like Nell and Eric out in the field, as well. If you bring too many field agents, it reduces the opportunity of seeing that again.

Our NCIS: Los Angeles season 11 preference

Should the team introduce a new character, or promote an established one to a larger role? There’s value to it, but it needs to come in the right form and also the right part of the profession. The show could use another leader to clash with or someone else to fulfill a role behind the scenes. As for another agent, we don’t see the value unless you add more people to the cast.
