Animal Kingdom season 4, Queen of the South cable ratings
One of the things that we’ve long praised this show for is its consistency. The numbers for the third season were actually an increase from season 2 and this is certainly a rarity within the TV world. In this era where so many people are watching television via the DVRs after the fact, it is certainly strange to see the numbers go up! For season 4, however, the numbers are down a little bit … but not substantially so. We’re only two episodes into the latest season, but the show is averaging a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic — this is a drop of less than 8% from the season 3 average! This is still great news, and we certainly think that if things stay around this level, it almost certainly is going to get a season 5.
Perhaps the best thing in general about Animal Kingdom at the moment is that if the ratings continue to be what they are, this is a show that is going to go out on its own terms whenever it wants to end. That’s something that every good show should want — even if it does end a little bit earlier than a lot of people out there would want.

As for Queen of the South…
Thursday night’s season 4 premiere ended up drawing a 0.3 rating in the demo and just under a million viewers — these are drops of just over 20% from where the show was at for most of season 3, but we do still think that they’re solid enough numbers to give the show a chance at coming back, as well. After all, if it keeps this rating for the rest of the season, it would only be down 13% in the ratings on average from all of season 3.
Of course, it’s still to be seen if the numbers are going to stay on this level for the rest of the season. We think that Queen of the South has the potential to have a pretty outstanding story — at least based on where things left off and giving us an exciting new story in New Orleans.
