Bring It Back 2019 finale: Timeless, Whiskey Cavalier, Shadowhunters, Santa Clarita Diet face off
After weeks of voting, today we’ve arrived to the big finale for the Bring It Back 2019 tournament! There are four shows still in the running, and one of them is going to have a chance to emerge as the official champion over the course of the next week. It’s Santa Clarita Diet, Shadowhunters, Timeless, and Whiskey Cavalier competing to win the title, and all have received thousands of votes so far. We know their audience is out there, and we’re definitely excited to see how the results shake out!
Here’s what you need to know entering the finale — the one show with the most votes will win the tournament this year! You can vote in the attached poll however often you’d like between now and Friday, May 31 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Shortly after, the winner will be officially announced. In the event that one of these shows is actually saved over the course of the next week, they will still be eligible to win this tournament — think of a victory here, in that case, as a cherry atop to sweet revival sundae. (For more technical information on voting, check out the notes at the bottom of this article.)
Now, without further ado, let’s get to discuss the four contenders further.
Santa Clarita Diet – Typically, we don’t see enormous save-our-show movements behind comedies, with Brooklyn Nine-Nine last year and Santa Clarita Diet this year being exceptions. What makes these shows work so well is that they tell a continuous story and through that, viewers become insanely invested. It also helps in this case that we’re coming off of one of the craziest finales of the past year and we’re still anxiously awaiting what happened with Joel.
Shadowhunters – Unfortunately, Shadowhunters was a victim of some negotiations and issues on the business end between Netflix, Freeform, and the production company — it was a complicated situation, but it was canceled even though it was very clear that viewers were still watching and loving it. We also definitely think there’s a market for more. How can there not be given its status as an action-packed, romantic, and even inspirational show?
Timeless -It’s been almost six months since the farewell movie aired, but the attention and enthusiasm is still there to continue to see what sort of time-traveling trouble (or triumphs) could await Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus, and the rest of the team. This is a world where there will always be stories, mostly because the only limit the show possesses is one’s imagination — and we certainly still think there is enough of that to go around.
Whiskey Cavalier – Finally, let’s discuss a show that could very well still find itself back at ABC — even though it was already canceled. It’s in a spot that is actually rather simple to where Timeless was following its first season — though, alas, there are no guarantees here still. What we know is that through a very short period of time, Whiskey Cavalier has built a great legion of eager, enthusiastic fans who appreciate its action and humor.
