The Voice season 16 finale results: Did Maelyn Jarmon, Gyth Rigdon win?
Entering tonight’s big episode, there were a total of four people still left in contention: Maelyn Jarmon, Gyth Rigdon, Andrew Sevener, and Dexter Roberts. Of that group, we knew entering the finale that Maelyn was the runaway favorite online. There were discussions of the country artists splitting the vote and the country crowd being so big that even a vocal titan like Maelyn wouldn’t be able to overtake them.
While we favored Maelyn based on the performances that we saw the night before, we didn’t want to come into the finale ready and willing to coronate her. That just would be crazy based on some of what we have seen with this show over the years.

Let’s get to the results…
The first person eliminated tonight was Andrew, which shouldn’t shock anyone given that he needed the Save in order to get to this point. Meanwhile, the second person who was eliminated tonight was Dexter Roberts. We can’t say that we’re altogether shocked by that, either. We actually thought he was better than Gyth last night, but that doesn’t necessarily mean much of anything given that Gyth seemed to have a larger fan base for most of the season.
So in the end, it was between Gyth and Maelyn and only one of them was going to win at the end of it. We could’ve honestly seen this going either way, but the winner … Maelyn! She did it! This is one of those seasons that, from the start all the way to the finish, really felt wire-to-wire. While you can argue that Blake having so many country artists actually hurt him, we’re actually going with a slightly different argument here: Maelyn was simply the best singer from start to finish this season. She delivered a lot of fantastic performances and while we think it was probably a reasonably-close vote, it was just hard for people to deny her the crown in the end. We’re happy for her, and we certainly think that she is one of the best winners that The Voice has ever had.
