The Walking Dead season 10: Could Lauren Cohan return as Maggie?
Today, the news broke that Cohan’s other show in Whiskey Cavalier was canceled over at ABC. While its status as a midseason entry did not necessarily preclude Cohan from stopping by and appearing on this show moving forward, it does certainly mean that there is a little bit more time for her to appear on the zombie drama … provided that Whiskey Cavalier does not find another home. As recently reported, we are going to see the show’s studio in Warner Bros. TV work to shop the series somewhere else, and we do think that there’s a slight possibility this happens (though we wouldn’t count on it).

As for a Cohan – Walking Dead return, that seems a little bit more likely … but we don’t think that it will happen immediately in season 10. Remember that the writers likely already have plans for much of season 10, and they likely have to write a good bit of it thinking as though they wouldn’t have the Maggie character around. It’s hard to change up scripts on the fly, but we’re sure that they have a contingency plan somewhere for at least a few episodes in the event that Cohan was available and then beyond that, interested in coming back for a few more episodes.
New episodes of The Walking Dead will premiere this fall on AMC, and we already know that there are some plans for some additional departures. Take, for example, Danai Gurira — at the moment, it appears as though she will be departing during the tenth season in some capacity, but it does remain possible that she could come back to take part in the Andrew Lincoln feature films that are coming — or some other material that could be coming in the future. We do think that Maggie could also appear in the movies in the future. Wouldn’t it be cool if she was to get her own? We think that we’re at a point where all options have to be considered, and for good reason.
