NBC 2019 fall schedule: The Blacklist returns, The Good Place moves

The Blacklist logo any season

Today, NBC officially revealed their fall schedule for the 2019 TV season, and much of it will feel familiar. While there are some subtle shifts, this is clearly a network that is proud of what they’re doing right now and feels no ENORMOUS need to suddenly start rearranging chairs.

We’ll be back to break everything down in just a moment but, before getting there, let’s share the official schedule. (Note that all times listed are Eastern Standard; adjust accordingly for where you are in the world.)

Mondays

8:00 – The Voice

10:00 – Bluff City Law (new drama)

Tuesdays

8:00 – The Voice

9:00 – This Is Us

10:00 – New Amsterdam

Wednesdays

8:00 – Chicago Med

9:00 – Chicago Fire

10:00 – Chicago PD

Thursdays

8:00 – Superstore

8:30 – Perfect Harmony (new comedy)

9:00 – The Good Place

9:30 – Sunnyside (new comedy)

10:00 – Law & Order: SVU

Fridays

8:00 – The Blacklist

9:00 – Dateline

Big takeaways

The most notable one is perhaps how little is different from last fall, save for Manifest being held for midseason while Bluff City Law takes its place in that timeslot. Also, it’s interesting that NBC is basically giving up on Friday nights at 9:00 p.m. after trying some different things there. The Blacklist is permanently moving and taking over the 8:00 p.m. spot previously held by Blindspot, which is going to be apparently saved until midseason for its final batch of episodes.

Also, The Good Place shifts to a new timeslot, and we’re somewhat surprised to see New Amsterdam and Law & Order: SVU in the same timeslots. Crazy as it may seem, but we entertained an idea in our head of these shows keeping the same timeslots.

Bluff City Law – “Follows the lawyers of an elite Memphis law firm that specializes in the most controversial landmark civil rights cases. Led by legendary attorney Elijah Strait and his brilliant daughter, Sydney Keller, they take on the toughest David-and-Goliath cases while navigating their complicated relationship.” (Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Jayne Atkinson, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, Stony Blyden, and MaameYaa Boafa make up the cast. Fun fact — executive producer Dean Georgaris had a different NBC in The Brave in this timeslot.)

Perfect Harmony – “(Single camera) A rural church choir that gets the director it never thought it needed when a salty, Ivy League music professor stumbles through their door…” (The cast includes Bradley Whitford, Anna Camp, Will Greenberg, Geno Segers, Tymberlee Hill, and Rizwan Manji.)

Sunnyside – “(Single camera) Former New York City Councilman Garrett Shah finds his calling when faced with six recent immigrants in need of his help and in search of the American Dream.” (The cast includes Kal Penn, Kiran Deol, Moses Storm,Diana Maria Riva, Samba Schutte, Poppy Liu, Joel Kim Booster, and Tudor Petrut.)
