‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: Emilia Clarke takes off to Morocco

Just how much is “Game of Thrones” entering the hone stretch for their season 3 filming? Let’s just say that the show is not only getting their filming dates and locations set for Iceland next month, but they are really starting to get some serious filming under way in Morocco.

Based on some sources plus the latest details from show site Winter is Coming, it appears as though the crew for the HBO series is really not going to be wasting much time in jumping from one location to the next for the show. Fillming is starting up right away in the Northern African nation, and Emilia Clarke (whose character of Daenerys Targeryan will have quite a bit to do this season there) and some other actors are already getting set to really start up work. (By the time you are reading this, as a matter of fact, work may already be underway.)

Thanks to the power of an elaborate soundstage in Northern Ireland, producers are not having to spend a grand amount of time in individual shooting locations filming what are mostly exteriors. This is why Dubrovnik only lasted for a matter of a few weeks, and Morocco will likely do the same pending some last-minute changes. Presumably, the show should be through with filming before the end of this year, and then it is just all about post-production and making sure that the series is ready to go come Sunday, March 31 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. We know that it is still a long time away, but there’s no problem with getting a little bit excited now, right?
