Call the Midwife season 8 episode 7 preview (PBS): The last before finale

Call the Midwife

When you get a chance to see Call the Midwife season 8 episode 7 on PBS next week, you’re going to see one of the more emotional episodes out there. For some characters, this will mark a chance to take on some new responsibilities. Meanwhile, for others this will allow you a chance to see their hearts explored in more profound and, at times, painful ways. This is going to set up for one character in particular a rather trying arc that will take them through the end of the season.

For those who haven’t heard anything about what’s coming, we don’t want to say too much. Yet, we should say this — family can be the thing that binds you. Yet, it can also be the thing that utterly breaks your heart. Because you’re so much closer to them, they hold their heart within their hands and can very well crush it.

Curious now in some further details all about Call the Midwife season 8 episode 7? Then we suggest that you check out the synopsis below:

Learn why Mother Mildred decides it’s time for Sister Frances to attend her first solo birth. Trixie consoles a patient who discovers she has gonorrhea. Sister Monica Joan follows Great Britain’s Olympic hopes.

Some of the story threads present here are significant in that it gives you some more insight on some established characters. Take Sister Frances, for example. We know her already to be still trying to figure out Nonnatus, and also struggling with some of her responsibilities. She’s nervous, as many people within this particular world would be at first. The good thing for her is that she won the lottery going to Nonnatus house, where she can be surrounded by mentors and people who will encourage her. There are certain expectations that need to be met, sure, but she is surrounded by people who have their hearts in the right place.

As for the Trixie – gonorrhea storyline mentioned here, the easiest thing for us to say is that this does have some heartbreaking twists and turns buried within it that you will not expect on the surface. Rather than just focusing on the disease itself, it gives you a sense of a larger emotional problem that is going on with a character. What Call the Midwife often does is use a singular event as a destination point for a journey, an opportunity to dive into either a theme or an ailment often under-represented. We don’t want to say too much more here in fear of giving something away, but this is absolutely the way in which this story is heading. Be prepared, and bring your customary hankies — you have to be used to them at this point within a season.
