Britain’s Got Talent review: Mark McMullan, Rob King, Angels Inc., and other auditions
As we’ve done for the past few weeks, we’re going to offer up a FULL review here! Be sure to refresh this article throughout for some more updates. Rob King – We like his story — he actually works at the same theater that the show films at, where he serves drinks. He sees everyone walk into the theater and he never gets to be the star … until now. We’re not sure what sort of music he wants to do professionally just based on one performance, this was a nice breath of fresh air.
Jay Rawlings – We love it when people come on this show to break silly world records, and Jay came out and proved that apparently, you can balance eleven chairs on your chin at the same time. We don’t know how you do after this other than try to add more chairs, but we give him all of the credit for doing it now.
Graeme Mathews – We love this guy! He was incredibly funny, and despite us thinking at first that he was just going to be a mock magic act, he actually did have a really good twist at the end. It wasn’t the most elaborate magic act that we’ve ever seen, but the reveal was still really fun and he put a massive smile on our face. Sometimes, that’s all you really need with this show.
Angels Inc. – How’s this for something you don’t all that often — it’s an all-female team of magicians who feel current and intense? While we have seen variations on a lot of this tricks before, we think that there’s more that they could do beyond this. Our one concern is that there were so many women by the end of this act that we’re not actually sure who are the leads of the act … we’re assuming it’s the three at the end?
A&J – These two deserve all of the credit in the world just for being able to come out there and be game enough to do a David Walliams stunt — basically, allowing him to be lifted off the ground by the dude’s teeth! It was impressive — also, something that we’re not sure we would ever want to be on either side of.
Mark McMullan – He’s got a beautiful, soothing voice, and his performance of “Bring Him Home” was lovely. He also had a backstory as he sang as a way to find comfort and support for his brother, who was unable to properly communicate — he just could hear this soaring, powerful voice.
Iconic – The final act of the night, and a dance crew who apparently decided to tell a huge chunk of music history within the span of just a few minutes. What we liked about them was that they had SO much energy and there was just a sense of fun. We’re not sure that it breaks the mold for dance crew, but we were thoroughly entertained.
