‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: Iceland shooting and more

Can you believe that “Game of Thrones” has already wrapped up their work in Dubrovnik? If there is one thing that is really surprising us about the show at this given moment, it is how efficient they are managing to be with their time? They were in Croatia for a couple of weeks, have been shooting most of the past three months in Northern Ireland, and are now getting things set up for their remaining two locations in Morocco and Iceland.

So what’s happening next? We already wrote about the gang heading to Morocco a little bit later this month, but now local press from the Iceland Review Online (per Winter Is Coming) claims that the show is going to start shooting on the European island nation beginning from November 12-13 and ending on either the 27th and 28th. There will also be some other changes compared to last year, as filming is moving to the northeast part of the country this time so that they can get more footage of the wintry weather they desire.

Filming in Iceland is always the most difficult of any of the locations, mostly because you are battling more than just low temperatures and high winds; you’re also battling the fact that the days are so short. Unlike a place like Dubrovnik or Morocco where you are going to get lengthier shooting days in the event of a few errors here and there, the pressure is on in Iceland to get everything right quickly. After all, the sunset will be here before you know it. So why doesn’t production come a little earlier? We don’t know, but our guess is that they want to keep the beautiful Icelandic scenery, but there are only so many months where there is enough snow to keep their setting the way they want.
