SWAT season 2 episode 20 spoilers: What’s testing Hondo’s patience?

Want to get some more insight on what’s coming on SWAT season 2 episode 20? Consider this piece some early slices of some of what you’re going to be seeing coming up. This is an episode entitled “Rocket Fuel,” which we like to think is some sort of clue for “oh, maybe this means that we’re going to see Hondo become an astronaut.” Spoiler alert: It’s not. That’s the sort of only-in-dreams stuff we like to conjure up when given the opportunity.

Instead, what we’re getting within this episode is a case that actually has some deep ties to the past and, beyond that, a case involving a drug dealer and one that is going to cause Tan to have to retrace some of his steps with a man he hasn’t worked with in a while.

Even beyond this case, though, this episode is jam-packed. Since we are so close to the end of the season, we’re at this point now where we’ve got a rich abundance of various storylines that the show wants to bring to the table. Consider it the writers giving us some great stuff that they’ve been planning, but also some stuff that they weren’t going to have a chance to deliver in the finale.

Below, CarterMatt has the official SWAT season 2 episode 20 synopsis with some additional insight regarding some of what’s coming up:

“Rocket Fuel” – The SWAT team discovers a new version of PCP with ties to an escaped drug dealer who created a version that ravaged the city decades earlier. Tan’s personal ties to the case emerge when he brings in his mentor, Ben Mosley (Dominic Hoffman), the former lead detective on the original drug case, to help. Also, Chris weighs a major decision regarding her romantic relationship with Kira and Ty, and Hondo’s patience is tested by his new familial responsibilities, on S.W.A.T., Thursday, April 25 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Debbie Allen guest stars as Charice Harrelson, Hondo’s mother.

We’ll be the first to admit that we’re a little sad to be seeing Hondo so rattled as he’s been in the second half of this season; yet, at the same time isn’t it great that we’ve gotten as much Debbie Allen this season as we have? It’s absolutely not something that we really expected even after having a chance to learn that she was playing Hondo’s mother, but it’s certainly welcome. (What may not be welcoming is knowing just how much stress some of these characters are going to be under by the time we inch a little closer to the end of the season.)
