Is The Flash new tonight on The CW? Season 5 episode 18 hopes
Let’s kick things off now with the bad news: There is NO new episode on the network tonight. We’re in the midst of a hiatus, one that is going to last until we get around to Tuesday, April 16. When it does come back, you’ve got a HUGE reason to be excited — think in terms of Godspeed.
So, who is this character? If you’re a reader of the Flash comics, you’ve probably got a good idea already. Godspeed is an iconic villain within that world and more than likely, he’s going to be a huge part of this show’s story. We certainly think of him right now as the missing link. He may be the party responsible for messing with the timeline and surprising Eobard Thawne and his plan. It seemed like he was doing just about everything for a reason, including pushing Nora West-Allen to visit the past and her father Barry. Godspeed, however, is throwing some sort of a wrench into it.
The primary objective here is learning why Godspeed is involved in all of this mess in the first place. The second order of business, meanwhile, is learning a thing or two more about who he actually is. We may not get all of the answers this season. As a matter of fact, we wouldn’t be super-shocked if “Godspeed” really just turns out to be some sort of supervillain audition tape for the future, one where what happens here ends up playing into what we get a chance to see in season 6. (At the moment, we’d say that Godspeed, as well as Red Death, are at the top of our Big Bad pecking order.)
Beyond the story of Godspeed, it’s also worth noting that “Godspeed” marks the directorial debut of one Danielle Panabaker! If you love to see great performers stretch their wings and try out something new, this is absolutely right up your alley.
Our expectations, in general, the rest of the season
For starters, you’re going to see New Cicada continue to wreak havoc and press on in her revenge tour. Meanwhile, you’ll see Barry wrestle with the big secret that Nora’s kept from him and Iris regarding the Reverse-Flash. It’s a hard pill to swallow — in reality, Nora should have been aware enough to realize that it wasn’t a good idea to partner up with this dude. Yet, we don’t think she did it for the worst of reasons. She’s just naive and spent a lot of her life without superhero guidance in her life. She’s having to figure that out on the fly.
Now, this is where we also hope that there’s something more to come for Ralph and Cisco — they are still series regulars! Yet, it feels like they’ve fallen into various breach portals over the past few months and we only see them pop up here and there.
