Blindspot season 4 episode 16 preview: Hello someone, my old friend

Blindspot season 4

Blindspot season 4 episode 16 is airing on NBC next week, and yes, we could not stop ourselves from making a Simon & Garfunkel reference in the title. It’s hard not to when you’re dealing with an episode entitled “The One Where Jane Visits an Old Friend.” Somehow, this episode seems to be giving you a mixture of “The Sound of Silence” with Friends, and we’re actually kind of terrified of what that would look like.

We got a lot more to say here, but why not kick things off by sharing the official Blindspot season 4 episode 16 synopsis below?

03/22/2019 (08:00PM – 09:00PM) (Friday) : The FBI is hot on Madeline’s (Guest Star Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) heels as Jane (Jaimie Alexander) seeks help from a familiar enemy. Also starring Sullivan Stapleton as Kurt Weller, Rob Brown as Edgar Reade, Audrey Esparza as Tasha Zapata, Ashley Johnson as Patterson and Ennis Esmer as Rich DotCom. TV-14 V

Here’s a healthy dose of irony for you — we wrote the title for this article before even looking at the synopsis, and there actually are some interesting parallels between this episode and “The Sound of Silence” — provided that Jane’s “friend” is actually an enemy. Do you really think that darkness is much of an old friend, either? It’s more the presence of something or someone known, which can trigger specific images and memories in your head. It’s something you know you’ll be seeing again, even if you don’t want to.

Within the world of Blindspot, what makes this exciting is mostly an opportunity to dive more into Jane’s past — while also pushing the story forward. This is an episode that’s necessary, mostly because we’re in a “desperate times call for desperate measures” sort of situation at this point. If you’re so desperate to stop Madeline, why not pull out all of the stops? You may or may not be able to thwart her right away, but you can set a good foundation … though there may be some elements of it that you come to regret a little bit later. If you have to team up with an enemy now, don’t you think that this is something that you could regret later?

At the end of next week’s episode, be prepared for yet another hiatus — as insufferable as that may be to type out. We are going to be stuck waiting for at least two weeks following it to see what’s next … mostly because of the fact that The Blacklist is currently set to do another two-hour event at the end of this month. We’re getting a lot of those with this show, mostly because it’s still trying to catch up from premiering so late in the season. There are still plenty of episodes left here, as well, which means that you should get a solid run to close out the season.
