God Friended Me episode 17 preview: Can Miles go mainstream?
Before the God Account began, there was a podcast. For Cara, there was a job as a reporter. Just because they have new goals, these haven’t gone away. As a matter of fact, the God Account enriches them. They’ve chosen to go public about their search for answers and because of that, opportunities have going to keep coming! That’s great. What’s not so great is that some of these opportunities could come into conflict with each other.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the God Friended Me episode 17 synopsis, which has some more insight as to what is coming up:
“The Dragon Slayer” – Miles gets an offer to join a podcast network that wants the exclusive rights to the God Account story. But when Cara has the chance to move up at her job by interviewing Simon Hayes about his possible connection to the Account, she must decide if she’s willing to risk Miles’ big break to further her own career, on GOD FRIENDED ME, Sunday, March 17 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
We don’t really think that we need to flesh out further why this is an important crossroads for Miles and Cara. We know that they have feelings for each other and that does make this situation complicated. If Cara takes this interview and hurts Miles’ ability to move forward, that could lead to a strain. As a matter of fact, that could destroy everything. With doing the God Account comes sacrifice, and with that in turn, comes teamwork. It’s not especially fair for one of them to take a big leap forward while the other cannot even muster a hop. That’s why it may be best for neither to actually take the next step within this episode. Let the cards fall where they may in the future; if Miles is successful enough, he doesn’t need a fancy podcast network to put his stories in lights. The same goes with Cara, and you don’t want to run the risk that in putting Simon Hayes name in lights and publicly connecting him to the God Account, you’re going to in turn cause the real responsibly party to retreat.
(If it was not painfully obvious already, we are still of the belief that there is someone else responsible for the God Account — Simon feels far too simple for a show intending to last on the air longer than a season.)
