Can you find humor in church? Absolutely you can! The idea of Last Man Standing is to be relatable, and the truth is that there are millions of people who go to church every week, and very few shows willing to actually focus on it for longer than a couple of minutes. This actually feels like the perfect fertile ground for humor. You don’t have to be sacrilegious and you can tow the line in some creative ways between being edgy and being relatable to the average church-goer. Let’s face it — nobody’s perfect. It doesn’t matter if you’re at Sunday service or not. This episode exposes this, as Mike Baxter tries to call an audible on some Sunday School responsibilities.
Want some more intel on how this episode comes together? Then check out the official synopsis below:
When Reverend Paul (guest star Bill Engvall) calls on Mike to teach Sunday School, Mike calls on Kyle to take his place. Meanwhile, Eve (guest star Kaitlyn Dever) fears Mandy and Kristin are taking advantage of Jen at home in the all-new “The Passion of Paul” episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, March 15 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LMS-718) (TV-PG D, L)
The church story is what Fox is leading with and because of that, we think that it will probably dominate the most in terms of airtime. With that being said, though, we’re equally intrigued to see what’s going down with Mandy, Kristin, Jen, and Eve. There haven’t really been opportunities to see all four of these women in the same episode! What happens when they get together? Well, for Eve, she’s probably going to be able to relate to Jen because she’s been in her shoes. While they may come with some predisposed differences because of their cultural background, the point of Last Man Standing is that it often brings people together. Here, you are getting to see two people potentially join forces who really don’t know each other well at all beyond Jen just sleeping in Eve’s old family home. We’d like to see some of Jen’s edgier side shine through — Eve seems like the perfect mentor to fight back!
