FBI episode 16 return date, and the complicated schedule ahead
Let’s give you a good sense of just what we’re talking about here, as originally, there was meant to be a new episode of FBI on next week — one entitled “Invisible.” We’ll go ahead and give you the official synopsis if you’d like:
“Invisible” – When the daughter of a wealthy family is kidnapped in an attempt to gain notorious internet fame, Maggie and OA discover the kidnapper’s plans go far beyond abduction in order to never be forgotten.
So what’s going on now? Let’s just say that there’s been a change in plans over at CBS and they’re no longer planning to air a new FBI next week. The reasoning for it seems vague, but what we all do have to collectively remember sometimes is that major television networks are not obligated to give you a reason for why they swap things around. We, as critics and journalists, don’t have them under oath. Sometimes it’s because they realize that they want to save a particular episode for down the road, or sometimes there is an event that comes careening into play and that throws a schedule completely out of whack.
In this case, we just think that CBS wanted to hold some of their FBI cards closer to the vest for a while and save some of their episodes for further on down the road.
So when is FBI returning then?
Here is your silver lining — frustrating as a change may be, at least the programming executives are kind enough to recognize that they don’t want you to be waiting that long. The next new episode is airing come Tuesday, March 12, or just two weeks from tonight. That means that this hiatus is a short one, and we’ll have to cross our fingers and hope for a story that makes the break worthwhile — think in terms of one that tests Maggie and OA, while exposing further why they value these jobs and what makes them want to do some of the work that they do.
There are other goals that the series also does need to reach, and that is setting the stage for the potential FBI: Most Wanted spin-off. It’s somewhat shocking how quickly this came together for CBS — there’s been casting updates over the past few weeks in addition to learning that this is something that executive producer Dick Wolf wanted from the start. Do you know how Walter White was in the empire business? Well, he just thought he was. Dick Wolf is in the empire business when it comes to the shows — and unlike Walt, he’s not going to run afoul of the law doing it.
