NCIS: Los Angeles season 10: Where is Hetty? Latest speculation

Story-wise, what we know is that Linda Hunt’s character went off the grid early on this season, and while gone she cautioned the team that she will be MIA for a rather long time. With that, we can’t exactly get our hopes up for a cameo tonight, especially since we’re in the middle of another story in the “Smokescreen” saga.
As for why the story has been written this season without her (for those who don’t know), much of that has to deal with the status of Hunt herself. She’s been recovering over the past several months from a car accident last summer. She initially planned to be back earlier on this season, but she eventually decided that she needed some more time.
The primary thing that we want to know here is that while Hunt remains gone from the show, she’s still listed as a part of the cast. This is a different situation from Nia Long’s character of Shay Mosley, who is not even listed as a part of the main cast anymore. We’re led to believe, therefore, that there is still going to be a chance to see Hetty and she is not gone for good. Plus, the writers haven’t done anything to make us think that we will never see this character again.
With this, the big question that you have to wonder is this: When will we actually see Hetty on the show again? If nothing else, we do think that we’ll get an update on the character in the weeks to come; it would be out-of-character for this show, which has long loved Hetty as a character, to suddenly ignore her outright. There’s almost certainly going to be some sort of additional information her — maybe that leads to us seeing her in the flesh this season, and if not, we’re still confident that something more is going to come a little bit down the road. It’s just hard to imagine this show without Hetty being involved again. (We do give credit to the writers, who have had to work a lot on the fly this season as Hunt recovers.)
