Shivon – We think that it was her rapping ability that really sold this for Will, as she became the final member of his team. We don’t necessarily think that she’s the strongest singer we’ve ever seen, but she’s got a lot of swagger and potential. With a lot of hard work, she could get there.
Amy Hawthorn – While we don’t think that this was a killer vocal, we did thoroughly enjoy this “Best of My Love” cover. There’s just such a sweetness to this song! It wasn’t enough for a chair-turn, though.
Philippa Akers – Philippa went for this with a cover of “Ain’t No Body.” There were some major control issues here and there, but a lot of that for her may have just been nerves. We can tell that she does have a skill set that is necessary to be a singer.
Ayanam Udoma – This was a different take on “Wonderwall” than what we’ve heard before — there was such a sweetness to it and Ayanam chose to do it in a slightly higher key than we hear with Oasis. Very unique voice, and we’re so glad that Sir Tom choice him. We don’t know what the collaboration will be like here, but we’re excited to find.
Kieron Smith – Love the song choice of “Drops of Jupiter” — one of our favorite songs from the past several years. Love the emotion and the interpretation of the lyrics. It’s an emotional, nostalgic tune and he sang it really well. It wasn’t over-emotional, but he captured the lyrics well and he is now on Team Jennifer Hudson!
Chloe Jones – She’s got a nice rasp! This was a memorable version of “Call Me,” and she was probably the best singer who didn’t get a chair turn tonight. Maybe this is a consequence of coming on near the end of the season.
Rainy Hall – We like the fact that someone’s doing Bryan Adams in 2019, but the performance itself probably needed a little bit more creativity in order to get a chair turn at this point in the competition.
Lauren Hope – This is what we call basically taking the bull by the horns. “Addicted to Love” isn’t a song that automatically gets you a chair turn, but Lauren worked it out thanks to the runs and the way she added something new to the song. She’s on Olly’s team!
Marina Simioni – She closed out the auditions tonight with a performance of “Show Me Love,” and we certainly think that she did everything she possibly could to get Tom’s final chair! While we don’t necessarily think that she needed all the bells and whistles, it was almost a good showcase of what she can do for the future.
