Gotham season 5 episode 7 spoilers: Prepare for ‘Ace Chemicals’

Want to know what’s coming up on Gotham season 5 episode 7? Well, there’s a lot that can be said just on the basis of the name alone. “Ace Chemicals” is the title for this hour, which is a super-clear nod to one of the most-iconic Joker events in the comics.

Do we think that the series is going to do a strict recreation of what happened in the source material? Hardly, but we like to think that, on some level, we are going to see an episode inspired by some of those events.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Gotham season 5 episode 7 synopsis with some more news as to what’s coming:

Gordon races to uncover the criminal element threatening to end talks of Gotham’s reunification with the mainland. A very much alive Jeremiah (guest star Cameron Monaghan) returns and organizes a twisted recreation of the murder of Bruce’s parents with the help of Jervis Tetch aka Mad Hatter (guest star Benedict Samuel) in the all-new “Ace Chemicals” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Feb. 21 (8:00-9:00PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-507) (TV-14 D, L, V)

From the vantage point of mere villains alone, it’s clear that there is a TON of good stuff coming in this episode. After all, we’re talking about getting the Mad Hatter back on the show! Jeremiah has been plotted his act against Bruce Wayne for a while now, and the goal here is to clearly traumatize him. He wants to play with his mind, largely because he thinks that this is going to be the biggest way to defeat him. We’re excited to see how the rest of this story plays out, and also see what lies ahead for Jeremiah on the other side of this. We know that this isn’t the last of Cameron Monaghan you will be seeing this season! There’s talk of him playing another character, a different character, at some point before we get to the end of the series.

As for what else is coming, there’s a good chance that we’ll also continue to see the development of a few other characters. It’s clear that we’re building towards some big stuff with Selina Kyle and Oswald Cobblepot, let alone some sort of continued story presumably with Bane. All of these villains are going to be effectively fighting for time, given that there is so little room within a fairly short span of time.
